First Ever: IoT Hackfest
This year we were fortunate enough to work with Umajin – a company that enables marketing and business teams to build mobile apps on a design led platform. Their business aim is to make app development more accessible to everyone, reducing the time, cost and complexity of building brand-first apps. Umajin were very excited to help us run a 1-day Hackfest event on an “Internet of Things” theme, giving students the challenge of building a smart retail application over the course of one day.
Teams were split into groups of five, consisting of two designers and three coders. With only seven hours on the clock they were forced to work fast – identifying a problem, learning how to operate the new software, whilst developing a functional solution to present by the end of the day.
Here are some photos from the day, and stay tuned for more detailed case studies and team profiles, coming soon!
