Bootcamp Highlights - Cloud 101

Cloud Computing can be a great way to run IT systems, and in this talk we had Buzzy from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in to talk to us about what types of services AWS offers, and how they can be useful in different situations.To help students gain a better understanding of just how useful some Cloud Computing services can be, Buzzy talked us through a hypothetical situation in which an individual wanted to create a small app to identify whether a given image was an image of a cookie or not. Walking through the process, from developing the application, to deploying it and dealing with customer demand, we got to see some of the AWS services in action.Cloud Computing can be a great way to try out a new idea with less risk than some other potential options. Buzzy also emphasised the importance, in his view, of developing an understanding for  machine learning, saying that it is a skill companies are starting to look for.
