Finding a summer internship can be daunting if you’re new to the process, or even if you’re a seasoned professional. How do you know which job you want? What companies are hiring? How do you apply? At Summer of Tech, we’ve tried to simplify the process as much as possible so students like you have the best chance of getting a paid summer internship. To go alongside our programme, we’ve created our Ultimate Student Guide to Getting a Paid Summer Internship!
What job can I get?
We place interns in all sorts of tech roles! From software development, to design and everything in between, if it uses technology there’s probably an internship for it. For example, in 2019 we listed roles for:

Hundreds more jobs at over 100 different companies!
How does it work?
There are a couple of important steps in the Summer of Tech process, which we’ll outline for you.
Make a profile! Register here to start. Follow all the steps to making a profile, and one of our profile reviewers will check it to make sure it’s the best it can be. We’ll give you feedback so that you’re putting your best foot forward for employers.
Attend bootcamps. Once you’ve started your profile, you will be able to access our events! Go to the events page once you’re logged in to your account to find our bootcamps. There’s something for everyone, from Cloud101 to one-on-one CV reviews. The best part – they’re all free! Check out past bootcamps we’ve had here.
Apply for jobs. Employers can start posting jobs on our site at any point, but most of the job listings start in July. You are able to view the job descriptions, like and apply for jobs all through our website. You can apply for up to 10 jobs at a time, and you can change your selection at any point.
Meet & Greet and job offers! In early September we host our biggest networking event of the year – Meet & Greet. This is your chance to make an impression on your favourite employer and find out more about the roles you’ve applied for. Following this, we host speed interviews for employers to chat to their top candidates. Then, in early October, job offers come out!
Top tips for getting a job!
Sign up early – The earlier you make your profile, the quicker it will be reviewed! You’ll also have earlier access to bootcamps which will boost your skill set before you meet employers.
Bootcamps, bootcamps, bootcamps! – Although it can be hard balancing bootcamps and uni, try to make time for at least a few! We make sure to teach the most sought after skills, so any bootcamp will be a great talking point once you get to interviews. It’s also a great way to meet industry professionals!
Register for Meet & Greet – Every year, Meet & Greet fills up super quickly. To make sure you don’t miss out on this key event, keep an eye on our events page from the 1st July! You’ll need a completed profile to attend.
Make it fun! – Going to bootcamps can sometimes be nerve-wracking, but remember – everyone else is in the same boat! Some students suggest finding a buddy to go to bootcamps with, which can also help if you live far away and need to carpool. Summer of Tech can be a great way to meet likeminded people, so remember to have fun!
