The Summer Internship at PaySauce - One Year Later

Last year we spoke with Paddy and Larissa after they began their internship at PaySauce during the summer of 2019. During the internship, they took on a unique project - developing Tasks, an app built to manage and delegate jobs within the PaySauce platform. One year later they are still a dynamic duo, and both have stayed on with PaySauce to continue developing brilliant products! Read on to find out more about Paddy, Larissa and the mega positive impact of mentorship as they moved to graduate roles.

#MarvellousMentors are awesome!

With the previous internship role behind them, Paddy and Larissa believe their internship experience has put them in great stead for their graduate roles. "Having a mentor alongside us made it much easier," says Larissa. “We had someone there who put aside time to talk to us and show us the ropes.” The pair were hired together by PaySauce in 2019. Though both shared some previous experience in the field, the extra guidance made all the difference.

“Having a dedicated mentor makes the whole process of transitioning into a new role so much easier. It gives you more confidence, which in turn means that you work so much better.” - Larissa

Confidence is Key

Their completion of the internship project has not only granted Paddy and Larissa plenty of confidence in their own abilities - the rest of the team at PaySauce have confidence that they’ll get the job done. “[PaySauce] now has the confidence in us to give us work that isn’t just an intern side-project, but is actually very important to them. They have enough evidence to see that we are a good team,” says Paddy. Throughout their internship they were able to prove their skills and can-do attitude towards the project. It’s had an awesome impact on their experience at PaySauce - even today.

"It makes us so excited to work on projects together because we already know we work well as a team. It's exciting to show them how much we've improved and come along since the last project." - Larissa

PaySauce - One Year Later

Why choose Summer of Tech?

“The Summer of Tech internship process is very straightforward and streamlined - and you get to meet industry leaders and other students in the process.” Larissa believes internships are a key step for tertiary students looking to get real experience in their field. “When you do an internship, you can really understand if the job is right for you, if the company is right for you, and if what you're doing is right for you,” she adds. “It's a great way to understand everything properly and get that first-hand industry experience.”  Thank you to Paddy and Larissa for checking in with us about their experience at PaySauce - one year later!
