Employers Terms & Conditions

As a Summer of Tech employer, I agree to abide by the following terms & conditions:

1. I acknowledge that “SoT Employer” includes all individuals registering to hire candidates on behalf of an organisation, as part of any Summer of Tech programme. 

2. I have read the pricing information and acknowledge that we must pay a placement fee for any SoT candidates hired after connecting through SoT.

3. I will search and connect with SoT candidates with genuine intent to recruit them for paid, mentored, entry-level jobs. 

4. I will list roles on the SoT web platform before I reach out to any candidates, so that candidates have context and expectations before we connect.

5. I will track applications via the SoT web platform. If I must include a link to an external application process, I will implement a “referred by Summer of Tech” tracking system, so that we acknowledge SoT as the source of the referral.

6. I will communicate clearly with applicants and shortlisted candidates, so they know their status and timelines in our recruitment process.

7. I will follow SoT’s rules for making summer internship job offers during September recruitment season. All summer internship offers and acceptances of employment will be made via the SoT web platform. Any offers made outside of the SoT platform will be confirmed with SoT within 24 hours of acceptance.

8. I understand the SoT online Offer process is expected to be a binding employment offer, and it will be followed up with a formal contract within 1 week of acceptance.

9. As a SoT Employer, our organisation will comply with NZ employment legislation, and manage our employees in line with NZRise’s guidance on internships.

10. There will be an employment agreement in place for all SoT candidates hired, and they will be paid an hourly wage of at least NZ Living Wage.

11. For each candidate hired, my organisation will provide a dedicated mentor, a go-to person for issues and questions that arise during the internship.

12. I agree to follow the Code of Conduct for all SoT events & activities.

13. I acknowledge that Summer of Tech may video or photograph participants at events, and that my attendance may be documented and shared via online media channels (including the SoT website, social media pages, and Youtube). As such, I hereby agree to relinquish any reasonable expectation of privacy and understand that the use of my image does not violate any right of privacy, law, regulation or agreement. Moreover, I hereby grant permission to Summer of Tech to use, or authorise others to use, any photograph, motion picture, image, recording, or any other record of my participation in activities during the Summer of Tech programme.
