Guest post by Kimberley Hayward, sharing the trade secrets.In Wellington on Monday we had three of our alumni share their tips and tricks for landing yourself an internship through Summer of Tech!Joining us were Latrell Whata, who recently finished interning as a production developer at Xero, Mathew Dawson who interned as a tester, and Nanda Hibatullah who was a full stack developer, both of whom were working at Flux Federation.The keys tips they had for students this year started with getting yourself registered for and attending as many bootcamps and Summer of Tech events as possible! They’re great chances to learn the skills employers are interested in, and well as to network with some people already in the industry.Next, they all agreed that you shouldn’t be too worried about not having the skills employers asking for, they expect to have to teach you, so long as you have the personal skills to fit into your team! And lastly, make sure you dress smart and prepare some good questions to ask before big events where you will intact with potential employers, such as Meet and Greet, and speed interviews that will happen in September.
