Upskilling, Inspiring and Connecting at Events in 2024

This year has been a bumpy ride, we are now, more than ever, grateful to our sponsors and volunteers for helping to deliver FREE events, providing informative, inspirational and supportive workshop content to aspiring tech and engineering professionals.

This year…

1,034 students and graduates

attended an average of 3.5 Summer of Tech events

Here’s some insights about our 2024 bootcamp impact, many hours have been invested to prepare candidates for the “recruitment season” part of the Summer of Tech calendar:

Why should you attend events?

Our events are optional, always free, and a great way to build awareness and connections with future tech careers. We absolutely acknowledge that many students and graduates don’t have the privilege of spare time outside of study, work and family commitments, and we do our best to ensure the content is available to catch up later.

THANK YOU to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to do some extra-curricular career development at a Summer of Tech event in 2024.

After attending, we hear people feel….

  • Informed about current and future technical skills and career paths

  • More confident that they’re ready to apply for roles

  • Connected to the people and organisations that are hiring

  • Up-skilled with tools, tips and techniques to accelerate their learning and career development

If you’re a candidate in our 2024 programme, don’t miss out!

Who delivers Summer of Tech events?

Summer of Tech has once again had epic support from our community, including alumni, past and future employers, and industry volunteers who just want to help send the ladder back down.

Sponsor led events showcase great places to work, often giving students and graduates a chance to visit offices and meet people before the pressure of recruitment season.

21 volunteer-led events

…experienced tech professionals taking time out of their day to share wisdom with the next generation! Our technical topics have covered everything from Cloud to Full Stack, Docker to Langchain, Javascript to Business Analysis, Developer tools to Agile, Infrastructure to Web Accessibility….

We’ve had communication, career navigation, CV workshops. Telling your story, integrating your pepeha into your profile, wellbeing strategies… and more.

9 clinics delivering 1:1 support

Over 100 industry volunteers have jumped online to deliver individual feedback on CVs and portfolios, and given candidates a chance to practice and get feedback in mock job interviews.

Meet & Greet Events coming soon!

But wait, there’s more! These events make up our preparation phase…. in September we’re moving into summer intern recruitment season, where we’ll host 2 x in-person and 1 x online Meet & Greet events.

We are already operating a waiting list for these events, so if you’re an EMPLOYER with intern roles to fill, sign up for our 2024 programme for your chance to meet and greet Aotearoa’s top talent. If you have projects popping up after September, don’t worry, we will be open for business right up until the end of the year. If you’ve got the opportunities, we’ve got plenty of talented candidates keen to meet you.
